UK Jelly Find a Jelly Page
The Brief …
To create a unique website that correctly interpreted the ‘Jelly’ ethos and community feel, pulled together information about Jelly events happening around the country, advertise the ‘Big’ Jelly happening in March 2011 and encourage booking.
The Solution …
The project was commissioned by Jan Minihane a social media consultant and small business advisor based in Telford, and organiser of Shropshire Jelly. She wanted somewhere central that people could go to find out information about Jelly events happening around the UK.
The name ‘Jelly’ meant that we could have some fun with the design and interactive elements on this site. The design was created by Anil Amrit, a graphic and web designer based in Bridgnorth who I work closely with on a regular basis, and the idea was to have a fluid feel when using the site.
The website was built using WordPress to allow complete content management and features:
- A fluid rollover effect in the main navigation to reflect ‘Jelly’.
- Secondary navigation for ‘Big’ Jelly event that appears on rollover.
- Cufon font replacement so page headings match UK Jelly logo without relying in system standard fonts.
- Twitter feeds from the main UK Jelly account, as well as searches to show when other people tweet about UK Jelly and the Big Jelly.
- Find a Jelly section, including search by county function and a google map showing all locations.
- Add a Jelly facility for organisers to add their event if not already listed.
- Easy integration with Eventbrite to promote booking for the ‘Big’ Jelly event.
- Facility to specify which sponsors logos display where on the homepage.
