The Brief …

To redesign the existing website to better reflect their existing brand, highlight events and book clubs, showcase their favourite books and allow content management of all areas.

The Solution …

I was thrilled when I was approached to work on this website for Booka. Originally from Oswestry myself, I was aware of Booka’s reputation and the amount of events they run that bring people into the town.

Designed and developed by me, with photography by Richard Stonehouse from Stonehouse Photographic, the new site needed to highlight the books and gifts that are for sale in store, showcase events and book clubs, encourage people to sign up for their email newsletter and also encourage footfall into the shop itself. The website was built using WordPress to allow easy content management.

The features include:

• Fading images on the homepage to show the exterior and interior of the shop
• Favourite books, with Book of the Month feature and a simple ratings system to allow site visitors to vote for their favourites
• Book Clubs section that can be ordered by the date of the book club rather than when it was added to the website
• Events section ordered by the date of the event, ability to add reviews and search for an event by month
• Full blog section utilising all of the features WordPress has available
• Ability to easily add Google Maps and directions
• Ability to easily add YouTube videos to all pages and posts
• Ability to select a specific testimonial to display on the homepage
