The Old Organic Farmers & Growers Homepage

The Brief …

To re design the existing website and content structure to better reflect the quality of service supplied and to make the site much easier to navigate and content manage.

The Solution …

Organic Farmers and Growers had already had a web presence for nearly 10 years, but as content and features had been added it was becoming harder to navigate through the site. This project was much more than just giving the website a facelift. Thought needed to be put into re organising the menu system, looking at how people currently used the website so that the important areas had more prominence, and considering the ways to indicate what section people were viewing when entering the website another way than the homepage.

This process required extensive planning and discussions with OF & G to get the right balance.

The website was then designed by In The Shed Ltd., based on wireframes and site structure created.

The website was developed using WordPress for easy content manageable and the flexibility for the site to grow over the next 10 years.

The features include:

Colour coded sections to indicate the section the page currently being viewed is in
Drop down and flyout menus to allow easy access to all pages from anywhere in the website
Remove-able banner on the homepage
Completely customise-able area on homepage and sidebars to draw attention to specific news or event
Approved Inputs section to show all products and suppliers approved by OF & G. Including the ability to filter by supplier and product type
Events section ordered by event date rather than the date published to the website
Upcoming event displayed in the footer of all pages based on the current date
Full classifieds section with the ability for people viewing the site to add classifieds and admin moderation
Blog section with full WordPress functionality
Ability to upload PDF documents to the website and version control to make sure amended documents are update in every area they are displayed on the site
Useful links section organised into categories with a javascript effect to show / hide links within each category
Full widget ready areas in the blog, news and classifieds sections
Full content management of all sections of the website

The Solution …

By Emily Kate is a new business that recently opened in Shrewsbury. They needed a completely new brand creating that could be used on the shop sign, in store and online.
The brand and website was designed by In The Shed Ltd. a graphic design studio based in Shrewsbury that I regularly work with.

The website was developed using WordPress and needed to be easily content manageable, reflect the type of products sold and the values the company have.

The features include:

Complete product, stock, shipping control
Integration with Paypal for online payments
Slideshow area on homepage that can be linked through to special offers if required.
Shopping cart total in header area with link through to checkout
Cross promotion of products in sidebar that are displayed at random
Blog section with full WordPress functionality
Enews signup form that automatically updates Mailchimp
Social media links that move down the screen as the page scrolls

To create a brand and design a website that showcases Alex’s wedding, portrait and music photography.

The Solution …

Alex Hardie already had a very clear idea of what he wanted when he approached both In The Shed Ltd. and myself to create a brand and new website for his photography.

The website needed to showcase his photography, but also needed for him to appear friendly and approachable and most importantly, that he is available for bookings.

The brand and website design was created by In The Shed Ltd. The website was built using WordPress for easy content management.

The features include:

Large fading images on the homepage to feature certain photographs
The ability to specify which images are used to advertise different areas of the website from within the admin panel
jQuery to display large images of the selected thumbnail in gallery sections
jQuery to stack thumbnails so that they fit nicely within the allowed area without the need to force them to a set shape
Tags system to allow filtering of gallery images further by keyword
Full blog section utilising all of the features WordPress has available

The Brief …

To redesign the existing website to reflect the beauty of the caravan park and to highlight things to see and do in the area.

The Solution …

Mellington Hall Caravan park needed a new website that they could update themselves easily. They also needed to differentiate themselves from the hall itself.

With this in mind, In The Shed Ltd. created a new identity and logo for them that fit with the family values they wanted to portray and would still have a similar look to the what had been used on signs around the park.

The website design was also created by In The Shed Ltd. and needed to incorporate this new identity. Because most of the static caravans on the park are owned by the guests, it also needed to appeal to those families that stay there every year but also attract new visitors.

The website was developed using WordPress to allow easy content management.

The features include:

Booking enquiry form on all pages
A slideshow of images showing off the park’s beauty and tranquility on the homepage
The ability to advertise caravans for sale
Latest news section
Information on places to go and activities to do
Guest book that could allow website visitors to leave comments
Image Gallery and the ability to add galleries to pages and news items
Ability to add Google maps and allow people to get directions from their postcode

Kirsty’s brief was to take an existing website design and convert it into a wordpress managed site. The existing site was quite large (> 60 pages), incorporated several different page templates and had significant amounts of content that was shared between subsections. We were looking to significantly improve the content management, reduce the maintenance costs, and include additional features such as a blog.

We are very pleased with the site that Kirsty has delivered. The design has been carried over perfectly, the content is easy to manage allowing a wider range of content contributors, and most importantly we have 5-10% increase in visitors. Throughout the process we found Kirsty approachable and knowledgeable. She was quick to understand our requirements and happy to explain and train us in the new features of the site.
Whilst the site is now complete and no further development is required, we will certainly use Kirsty again for any modifications that we have.
